The Heading Rules For US Youth Soccer

Rules regarding heading the ball for kids 10 and under were instituted for 2016. Click here for the summary.

A Note After Week 1--New Heading Rule

Please remember that there is no intentional heading of the ball in U12 and lower divisions.  When the ball is intentionally headed, the referee will stop play and award an indirect free kick to the opposing team.  This is not an AYSO rule; it was part of a legal settlement with the U.S. Soccer Federation.

Please do not leave messages on the advisory hotline.
Instead please contact your Division Director with specific questions.
